Which knowledge ?

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 3:16-17

A question which is interesting to ask ourselves is which knowledge Adam and Eve had before eating the fruit knowledge of good and evil ?

If this tree was called tree of knowledge of good and evil it’s not by accident.

The fruit of this tree was opening their knowledge on good and evil, putting them and the same level as God in this area but without the same power to dominate over evil.

And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” Genesis 3:22

The knowledge of good and evil gave them the ability to weigh things and to pronounce their own judgements without being qualified to be judge.

It gave them knowledge but not power.

The knowledge of evil was poisoning them and it still poisons us today if we do not renew our mind.

The knowledge of evil made them being aware and afraid of evil. They became preys instead of rulers.

Slaves instead of sons and daughters.
In prison instead of in freedom.
The tail instead of the head.
Weak instead of strong.
Doubtful instead of trustful.
Selfish instead of generous.
Troublemaker instead of peacemakers.
…

The knowledge of evil just messed up their consciences and ours.

But the Lamb came! Praise the Lord!

At the appointed time God himself came to the earth to put things in order.

He destroyed evil at the cross and gave freedom to all humanity as he gave freedom to the all the Israelites when they were in Egypt.

That was a picture of what was going to come.

He gave us freedom so we can know him and enjoy his fellowship.

He did not only gave us freedom but he also purified our conscience of evil!!!!

For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22

What a powerful truth!!!! I’m so excited!!!!

We don’t have listen to the lies of the devil anymore!!!
We don’t have to be afraid anymore.
No reason to doubt God anymore.
No reason to hide anymore.
No reason to be ashamed anymore.
No reason to think like slaves anymore.
No reason to be in bondage anymore.
No reason to hate people anymore.

God is our Father and he is a good Father. He delivered us from the domination of evil so we can know him.

He wants us to know HIM. To know HIM and HIM only.

We don’t need let the knowledge of evil poison our lives.
Let’s focus on God our Father and his goodness toward us.

Let’s dwell in his presence, let’s approach him with freedom and confidence.
Ephesians 3:12

Humanity makes me think about a son which was kidnapped from his Father’s house since a young age and lived over 14 years (for instance) in captivity.

During this time he learned a new way of living and he almost lost knowledge of his Father.

But at the appointed time, the Father found him, rescued him, put the kidnapper to prison and brought the son back home.

The son is now free in the house of the Father but he still behaves like a slave.
He needs to be re-educated by God.

That’s what we call the renewing of the mind.

We need to learn to trust our Father knowing that the evil one has no more power over our lives.

Let’s choose to know God only instead of letting the knowledge of evil slowing us down.
