It’s possible

I remember when I was a child in the Caribbean, I was about 13 years old. I remember being literally terrorized by a dog. The house in which the dog was, lied 200 meters from ours.

This dog was sometimes tied a long rope but most of the time he was free as air and was chasing people walking or cycling in the street.

One day, I was cycling to go to my football training session and the dog ran after me and bit me on the ankle without any reason.

I was so scared!!  He did not bite too hard but enough to scare a 13 years old boy.

After that day, every time I was passing by, the do was chasing me, trying to bite me again. That dog would not chase everybody but he would chase me all the time.

He knew I was afraid of him

Every time I had to pass by this house I was terrified.

Most of the time, I would start running before I reach that house so I could fly not leaving time to the dog to get me.

It’s funny how we can accommodate fear in our lives instead of raising above it and face our problems.

Are you accomodating some fears in your life ?

I did this for a few months then one day I was tired.
I was thinking it’s not normal that a dog make my life so miserable.
I decided to fight this dog so he stops chasing me.

I remember building myself up after making my mind up to deal with this situation.
I knew the dog could bite me again but I was tired of running away.

Tired of running away

I was thinking he may bite again me but he will certainly receive some kicks from me.
(I would never kick a dog in normal circumstances even if I don’t particulatly like them)

Then I went, building myself up mentally. I was approaching the very house and my heartbeats began to accelerate.

I closed my feasts and was determined to fight this dog.

When the dog saw me he began to run toward me as usual but that time I began to run toward him too, shouting and ready for the fight.

When the dog saw me in that state he backed off. He was so scared. There was no fight but I was ready for it.
Fear had changed camp.

Are you ready to overcome this fear in your life ?

After this event, each time I would pass by that house I would watch the dog in the eyes without fear. He never ran after me again.

Something had been shifted

We should not allow fear to dictate our behaviors. Our Father in heaven gave us power to overcome fear. Let’s do it!

He gave us power to overcome sickness!
Power to overcome depression!
Power to overcome poverty!
Power to overcome phobias!
Power to overcome anxiety!
Power to overcome addictions!
Power to overcome fear of death!

And the list can be very long. Just name it, you can overcome it.

We need to face our fears and overcome them

We can overcome any fear by the power of the blood of Christ.

Our Heavenly Father will not take the fears away from us because he has empowered us to overcome them.

This is our responsibility to build ourselves up in the word of God and to raise above every the fears that are poisoning our lives.

Fear does not come from God because there is no fear in love but perfect love drives out fear.

Let us become overcomers!
