I want to encourage you tonight. And my hope is that the words that you are going to hear will minister to you.

We cannot live without words because life has been created by the Word and is sustained by the Word.

At the beginning, God used the Word to create everything and to communicate with Adam and Eve.
Adam used his word to name the animals, to communicate with them, and with the woman and with God.

And everything was perfect! There was an atmosphere of truth and trust. The words spoken were: God said that everything was good.

Until, the serpent used his deceiving word to tempt Eve.
“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

And because Eve believed in a deceiving word, she acted upon it and disobeyed God.

This is where we need to be very careful with the words that are spoken to our hearts. The words spoken to us, if we believe them we will surely act upon them.

Who told you ?

But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Genesis 3:9-11

Who told them they were naked ? Any idea ?

I believe that the same one who tempted them, also told them that they were naked. He told them you are naked and this is wrong. Go hide yourselves and they went.

You remember that God had told Adam, you are free to eat from any tree in the garden, but you must not eat the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die. Genesis 2:17

When they acted upon the lie that had been spoken to them, they died spiritually. They were cut off God’s life. And we know God is spirit. They were cut off the spirit of God and put under the dominion of the evil spirit.

And guess what ? From that day, evil had dominion over us. He told them: “You are naked, this is wrong, go hide!” They went and hide.

The blood speaks

From that day we know the story well. Cain killed his brother Abel, we know who who told him to do that. But let’s take a look at Abel ? Don’t you think the enemy did not challenge him too ?

I believe the enemy did drop some thoughts in Abel but he resisted. We know the scripture which says resist the devil and he will flee away from you. He fled from Abel because Abel resisted him but when he went to Cain, Cain did not resist and yield to the lie of the devil.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? ⁷ If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Genesis 4:6-7

How dare a human being resist me ? The devil must have thought.

After Cain many other yield to the voice of the enemy instead obeying to God.

Many but not Noah!
Many but not Henoc!
Many but not Abraham!
Many but not Isaac!
Many but Joseph!
Many but Phineas!
Many but David!
Many but Mary!
Many but Jesus!
Many but John the Bapstist!
Many but Peter!
Many but Martin Luther!
Many but You, when you came to faith.

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. Hebrews 12:22-24

At rest

You can be at rest as you are on the winning side. You are seated in the heavenly places in Christ. No once can separate from the One who is seated on the throne. He is at rest and you are with Him at rest.

When your earthly circumstances are going against you, remember that you are at rest,
When you feel emotionally drained, physically exhausted, remember that you are at rest, 
When things are not going right with your colleagues, remember that you are at rest,
When you can’t find a job and have been looking for ages, remember that you are at rest,

You might not feel that you are rest, but only start to believe it and you will be amazed to see how things will turn around.
