Power of the tongue

The Lord tells us in Proverbs 18:21 that death and life are in the power of the tongue. This small part of the body is a very powerful tool that can be used either to build up or to destroy.

Many do not realize how much their confessions lead their lives.

Repeatedly saying things like: “I’m so stupid” or “I never understand…” will lead you to a place where you end up believing that you are stupid and never understand.

Now, you will be able to prove to yourself with facts that you are stupid but the issue is not that you are stupid. The issue that you confessed it so much that you are completely convinced of it.

We tend to minimize the effect that words have upon us but they are central in our lives.

A revealer

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Luke 6:45

The words we use every day are a direct expression of our deep beliefs. Those beliefs were formed and established in our core being (our heart) while we were kids between 0 and 7 years old.

A simple way for me to know what I believe is to sit down and ask myself some questions.

What do I want to achieve? Why is it not working? How long have been trying to do this?

Your tongue will help you release what you have in your heart. Just like a microphone can make loud what is said silently, your tongue can make you know what silently lies in your heart.

Power of prophecy

One of my best friend’s father was always saying that he would die when he reaches 50 years old. I was repeatedly saying the same thing and he ended up believing it. He spoke this for years and guess what happened. I died when he reached 50 years.

The good news is: if we can prophesy death over us, we can also prophesy life using the same power of our tongue.

Why not declaring every day what you are going to achieve this year. It might look a bit stupid but if you declare it repeatedly, you will end up believing it, and if you believe it in your heart, it will come to pass.

Moving mountains

Jesus told us: “If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” Mark 11:23

Jesus cannot lie so we are at a safe place. We can fully use our tongue to prophesy, heal, build up and plan good things for ourselves and those around us.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Are you willing to use your tongue to break through in those areas where you need it so much?

The power is in you. It might not come to pass overnight but the process will start as soon as you make up your mind and begin to speak out.

Enjoy your day today!
