On going war

Dear friends, I urge you as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

This could seem scary if you are lead by the flesh when you read it. When you are lead by the flesh, you are dominated by all kind of fear but when you are lead by the spirit you understand that you have dominion over the sinful desires which wage against your soul.

Be encouraged!

I will not focus on the sinful desires but on the holy desires that the Lord gives you once you made up your mind to walk with Him.
The world is in constantly pressurized. Stress, depression, sicknesses, hatred, violence in all kind has become business as usual. But most of human beings do not realise how much their soul is attacked, on a daily basis. Most people do not realise how captive they are of the worldly desires that are constantly waging.

The good news is that we can end destructive cycles in our lives. We have the power to resist all kind of negativity if we are lead by the spirit.

Walk by the spirit and you will not fulfil the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16

It looks simple and it is once you got it. The real question is are you willing to walk by the spirit?

Not by your power

This statement: “walk by the spirit” can sound overwhelming and very strange for someone who walks by the flesh. If you feel overwhelmed or unable to walk by the spirit it’s because you are walking by the flesh and that’s totally understandable.

Do you want to walk by the spirit? Do you really want to walk by the spirit? If you really, really want to do so, then keep asking the Lord until he reveals to you how to.

The Lord told us to ask and it will be given Mathew 7.7 and we often ask but we don’t feel it’s being given to us so we stop asking. Not always but when my son asks me something, I will wait before answering or giving it to him just to check how badly he wants that thing.
Sometimes he would come back and persist which shows me that he really wants that thing but other times and he will not come back at all.

Do you really want to walk by the spirit?

You need to ask the Lord then you need to believe you have receive this from him. Your faith will in the word of God will activate the power in you to walk by the spirit.

Your faith = His power.

If you try to walk by the spirit with your own power, you will be quickly exhausted but if you do so by your faith and his power, everything will become much easier. 

It is the spirit that quickens

This scripture has been with me since 2015 when the Lord lead me in a 40 days fasting. In John 6:63 Jesus says: It is the spirit that quickens (or give strength), the flesh profits nothing.

The spirit of God is the supreme power and he lives in you. Nothing in you or in the world is stronger than the spirit of God. If you walk by the spirit of God you will see wonders because this is what the spirit is about. When man is limited and weak, the spirit of God is unlimited and strong.

If you walk by the spirit, sinful desires will have no power over you. You will be so delighted with what you have in the spirit that anything else will be a waste of time and you will not attend it.
You will discover, a new energy in you, resilience, patience, endurance, all the fruits of the spirit will be there at hand for you to release in the lives of those around you.

There is an ongoing war against your soul everyday. But be encouraged, there is also a great victory in Christ waiting for you. Take it by faith!
